Here at Pet Travel we like to keep things pretty simple.

We only offer two types of domestic flights:

Within the island, (e.g. Wellington to Auckland)
Between the islands, (e.g. Auckland to Christchurch)

Basically, we can send your pets to where ever there is an Air New Zealand Cargo terminal.

PRICES AS OF 26.08.20:

$250.00 for a within the island booking, for up to 20kg including the weight of the cage, for one pet.
$350.00 for a between the islands booking for up to 20kg, including the weight of the cage, for one pet. This is an inclusive price.
$260.00 for a within island booking over 20kg, including the weight of the cage, for one pet, plus there is and extra $10.00 per kg charge over and above the 20kg. An excess kg bond will be required for this.
$360.00 for a between the islands booking over 20kg, including the weight of the cage, for one pet, plus there is and extra $17.00 per kg charge over and above the 20kg. An excess kg bond will be required for this.
$25.00 fee for all consignments departing Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch only. This does not include transhipping.
Empty crate return from Airport to Airport $75.00 <15kg.
Please note there is a 3% surcharge on all credit card bookings.

There is a $40.00 charge for an extra pet on the consignment (maximum 3 pets, if the cages is a permissible size) and if the weight of the pet/s combined goes over 20kg, then charges will need to be paid to Pet Travel prior to booking. Please discuss this with Pet Travel if you have an over 20kg consignment.

**There is a $75.00 flight cancellation fee for all bookings that have been paid for and put forward to Air NZ Cargo.

**A known shipper/agent is required to check in all pets with Air NZ Cargo. You meet the known shipper/agent at Cargo or at a place advised by the agent. Agent fee is $70.00 or $75.00 for Auckland and Dunedin.

Check in is 90 minutes prior to Departure time. No exceptions.

Collection is 60 minutes after landing time. Regional ports may differ.

**Due to the current covid situation in New Zealand, Air NZ Cargo are not confirming/rejecting bookings until 24hrs out from the departure date.

**Animals fly under the terms and conditions of Air New Zealand. A declaration and indemnity form must be completed and signed at time of checking your pet in with Air New Zealand Cargo.

Some useful tips for preparing your pet for travel

Don’t overfeed your pet on the morning of travel. A light breakfast is all that is needed.

Please ensure that your pet has some sort of bedding in its travel cage that will absorb moisture if they have a mishap. Puppy pads or newspaper are good to put in the bottom with a light blanket on top. (Our cages come with puppy pads)

Please ensure your pets bedding is free from soiling. A soiled cage will not be accepted onto the plane. If this happens, you may be required to collect your pet for clean up and the flight may have to be rebooked.

If you are going to put water in the water bowl, please ensure it is a minimal amount. This will minimise spillage it there is any turbulence during the flight. Also ensure you have absorbent bedding in the cage in case of spillage.

Take your dog for a good walk so it goes to the toilet prior to going into its travel crate. This will also help with it wanting to sleep in transit.

Please ensure your pets cage is labeled correctly with the consignees name, phone number, the destination airport and also the booking reference number on it.

Please check your cages are IATA compliant. Holes in the mesh of the door must be no more than 19mm for a cat/kitten, and 25mm for a puppy/dog. They must have holes (2 at top and 2 at the bottom) drilled above and below the cage door to put the cable ties in. Also ensure that all the bolts are there for your cage. Cable ties are not sufficient. Failure to do either of these could result in your cage being rejected at check in and you could miss your flight.
